- Send articles with full rich text formatting
- Add content to Notion databases with properties
- Maintain heading hierarchy and formatting
- Include images and media in exports
Requirements
Before you start:
- 1A Notion account (any plan works)
- 2A Notion workspace where you're an admin or member
- 3Pages or databases you want to export to
- 4Permission to add integrations to your workspace
Connect Notion Workspace
Ascend uses Notion's OAuth integration to securely access your workspace. You'll authorize Ascend to create pages and access databases.
Go to Integrations
In Ascend, navigate to Settings → Integrations → Notion.
Click "Connect Notion"
You'll be redirected to Notion's authorization page.
Select your workspace
Choose which Notion workspace to connect. You must be an admin or have appropriate permissions.
Review and allow permissions
Ascend requests permission to:
• View pages and databases you select
• Create new pages and content
• Edit pages you specifically share
Select Destination
After authorization, you'll need to share specific Notion pages or databases with Ascend. This gives you full control over what content Ascend can access.
Share Pages with Ascend
Open Notion
Navigate to the page or database you want to export to.
Click "Share"
Look for the Share button in the top right of your Notion page.
Add Ascend integration
Click the integrations dropdown and select "Ascend". Grant the appropriate permissions.

Ascend can only see pages and databases you explicitly share. Private pages remain completely private.

Troubleshooting
Having trouble? Here are solutions to common Notion integration issues:
Integration not appearing in Notion
Make sure you've granted Ascend access to your workspace during OAuth. Go to Settings & Members > Integrations in Notion to verify.
Cannot see pages/databases
Ascend can only access pages and databases you've specifically shared with the integration. Click 'Share' on any Notion page and add the Ascend integration.
Export fails with permission error
Ensure the Ascend integration has permission to create pages in your selected destination. You may need to re-authorize with broader permissions.
Formatting looks wrong in Notion
Notion has some limitations with complex formatting. Try using the 'Simplified' export option which converts complex elements to Notion-compatible blocks.
